¹ Namık Kemal Üniversitesi, Veteriner Fakültesi, Zootekni Anabilim Dalı, Tekirdağ Viewed : 1546 - Downloaded : 954 Beekeeping in Ordu Province is an agricultural activity of main means of living of families that are engaged in farming in as well as sideline in addition to other agricultural activities. While Ordu city ranks second in terms of number of hive in Turkey, it ranks first in terms of honey production. However, as a result of the colony management mistakes, in our different region, beekeeping activities performed with modern hives usually show low yield and high level colony losses in winter. The shortcomings and misapplications of colony management are one of the most important problems that lead to the withdrawal of Ordu beekeeping. This study examines some problems and solutions related to beekeepers profession and colonial management in Ordu where it has important place with respect to Turkey`s beekeeping and seeks answers to some expectation related to beekeeping.
